Da was ill for a short time 2 months, but never in any pain. We were with him every day and he kept his good side out right to the end. It was a very sad day when he went and yet there was a sense of peace, he just went to sleep. We all loved and will miss his presence and joy from our family but we will take the gifts he gave to all of us wherever we are.
just got online so much to say.da was always there keeping an eye making sure we were ok. with me it was football and college first job relationships. he was so happy when i got married think about him every day and cry cant help it miss him so much hope he is happy at the bar upstairs
its a month today and it feels like yesterday, the pain is still the same, the shock is deeper than before...and we are taking it one day at a time
Joe had compassion and respect for those who like himself went through the Industrial Schools. He respected them all and worked to properly represent them. He had humour and decency in abundance despite all that he went through. He was genuine in his support and friendships which endeared him to everyone. He is a great loss to those of us from the institutions. The very institutions that clearly scaled down his own life and sadly left its mark on him.
A memory from our childhood. You were my guardian and protector, if ever i was bullied i knew who to run to and you always had my back, you were mad but great fun to be with. My children still remember you from the time you came to stay with us and ate the cold pizza for breakfast at 8am i had so much trouble trying to get them to eat cereal after that. you will be missed bud by me and the family.. P.S if you figure out how to buy killarney let me no.
I remember Joe fondly from his time in the hotel business playing in goal and playings darts in Flannery's of Temple Bar a very popular man and will be missed by all those who know him.RIP Joe
when i was five and u came in and ur beard was gone i would not belive it was u i ran out the back garden away from u u were ther for me througt my heart surgery i love u lots i miss u
whether it was sitting in ur room watching football, wrestling or just having a chat those are the memories i will remember you by. The times u showed me to cook, or how to play cards, the advice and the stories you told me, the laughs we had, these are the things i will remember you by. Of all the people ill meet in my life ill never meet anyone like you, you were one of a kind. RIP xx
My da was a gentle man, he loved life and living and did both to the full. He was a joker and loved a laugh. He loved his family and friends and liked nothing more than being in his local having a small one and the craic. We loved him very much, and he will be missed.
