Shared Memories

Sweetest Memories, Dearest Mum  from Nicola Brennan Ryan

For everything you did for me, I’m so thankful. For everything you were, I’m so proud. For every memory I shared with you, I will cherish forever; for these are what keep you close to me, each day..

Do you remember each year after your birthday, how Daddy would tease you for being older, for a few months. Or how Christopher could make you laugh so much when he was in his “funny” humor or how Chantal and you would just love to sit and talk. I can still hear you tell the story of when you first saw Dad and you knew he was “your one”. I can still feel how tight you held on when we were flying because you were so scared. I can still see your face when we would tease you for being the smallest out of us all and you would say that “good things come in small packages”. Oh!! how you sang out loud, knowing every word but missing every note....how I would love to hear you now.

Most of all Mum, I will always remember that you taught me to be a good person, to do good by others and see the good in everyone, to be positive in all situations, to believe everything happens for a reason and that there is something great after, where you are now, where we will all meet again.

You are missed when the sun shines or when the rains begins to fall, when we are happy and when we are sad but most of all you are missed in everything we do; for life is so different without you… but as you would say, I believe your time here was up, so don’t worry Mum, we will look after each other as you did for us.
You are always with me, for I carry you in my heart, everywhere I go.

Love,
Nicola

Mum  from Chantal Brereton

You hear it said all the time that people don't know what they have until its gone, this was not the case with you Mum I always knew how lucky I was to have you, I was always so proud and grateful to be able to call you my Mum.

As I write this I wish your were sitting here beside me and for a minute I think you are. I will always treasure the happy and many memories I have, from those childhood memories of you always being there no matter what, playing, doing homework, driving us all around the country to the memories as I got older and you turned into a best friend aswelll as a Mum. From a night out, to a day shopping, a quiet cup of tea in the conservatory, graduation, first day at work, moving to Dublin, buying our first house, my hen weekend, my wedding, the birth of Rían to when I told we were expecting Kate. Little did we know you would not be here to meet her.

All those conversations, your advice whether is be something mudane or one of life's changing decisions you were always there with just the right thing to say. How the year has passed without you I just don't know.

Home, Home was what you did with perfection from cooking to throwing a party noone did it better. You were the life and soul, always a word for everyone and in great form. You welcomed everyone with such a feeling of warmth, you made our home the place to be.

You stood out wherever you went, you sense of style and glamour surpassed everyone. Always happy, always ready for what came next, always there for everyone.

Your missed more today then you were yesterday. I'll keep you alive so your granchildren will always know and love Granmum Joan.

Sleep easy Mum XX
